Tärkeintä minulle on että rakastan sitä mitä teen. Että tunnen sen nousevan syvältä sielustani, ja seison työni takana loppuun asti. Maalaan vanhalla lasyyritekniikalla, käyttäen välivernissaa aina kerrosten välissä. Näin syntyy hyvin kolmiulotteinen vaikutelma. Usein myös joka toinen kerros on kylmä sävyinen ja joka toinen kerros lämmin. Väripalettiini hyväksyn vain todella aitoja sävyjä, joita ei ole taitettu toisella värillä. Aiheet voivat olla mitä vain; rakkaus, tuska, tylsyys, julmuus, vuodenajat; yhtäkaikki se syntyy sydämestäni.

Rakkain maalaustaide on italian ja Alankomaiden 1200 luvun taide. Siinä on jotain niin hienostunutta, mutta samalla herkkää. Nuuskin niitä todella läheltä. Mutta myös nykytaide saa toisinaan sukat pyörimään ja haluan telineen ääreen. Mielestäni taiteen tekniset näkökohdat, kuten rytmi, tasapaino, massa ja dynamiikka, ovat työkaluja, jotka auttavat katsojaa sukeltamaan niihin tunteisiin, joita taiteilija yrittää välittää. Rakkaus on aina kukoistava voima, joka vie meitä eteenpäin ja pitää meidät liikkeessä. Taiteilijan on annettava itselleen aikaa ja rauhaa voidakseen kuunnella rakkauden ääntä ja edetä synkronoidussa tahdissa rakkauden kanssa kuuntelemalla sydäntä. Mitään ei voi kiirehtiä.

I love what I do, this is of great importance to me. My work rises from deep in my soul. I stand behind my work till the end. My painting technique is based in the antique glazing method, using intermediate thin layers of varnish between the layers of oil paint. This creates a three-dimensional effect. Often, every second layer is both cold-toned and warm. My colour palette is composed of pure tones that are not adulterated or evolve into another colour. Inspiration emanates from random subjects: love, pain, boredom, cruelty, seasons.

I admire the art of Italian and Dutch 1200s painting masters: these works are sophisticated and delicate. I observe them carefully, breathing in their essence. Contemporary art has the same effect on me, it inspires and sets my imagination wild, it urges me to paint. I find the technical aspects in art such as rhythm, balance, mass and dynamics to be the tools which aid the spectator to dive under the emotions the artist is trying to convey. Love is the ever-thriving force that takes us forward and keeps us moving. An artist must give him- or herself the time and peace to be able to listen to the sound of love and move forward in a synchronized pace with love by listening to the heart. Nothing can be rushed.
