Kuvataiteilija Taira Tigerille näyttelyn nimi Wanderlust tarkoittaa sananmukaisesti vahvaa halua vaeltaa ja tutkia maailmaa. Loputon määrä eri vaihtoehtoja ja valintoja vievät häntä maalaamisessa kohti tuntematonta, hetkeä, jolloin työ on valmistunut. Työskentely on hänelle seikkailua, tutkimusta ja taistelua. Visuaalisen epätäydellisyyden ihanuus maalauksessa on samaa kuin epätäydellisyyden ja keskeneräisyyden hyväksyminen elämässä. Maalausprosessi on hänelle oman identiteetin prosessoimista: henkilökohtaiset muutokset elämässä heijastuvat suoraan teosten syntymiseen.
Taira Tigerin näyttelyssä on esillä öljyvärimaalauksia viimeisen vuoden ajalta. Edeltäneessä näyttelyssä olleet musteella maalatut lähes yksiväriset teokset saivat taiteilijassa kaipuun vahvojen muotojen ja värien pariin. Kaikki käyttämättä jäänet viivat tulivat myös mukaan. Teoksissa risteilevät öljypastelleilla ja öljyväreillä maalatut, tai eri tavoin pyyhityt ja raapustetut, pintaa jakavat verkostot. Kaikki tunteet, kuten epävarmuus, turhautuminen, ilo ja onnellisuus ovat niissä mukana.

For visual artist Taira Tiger, the title of the exhibition Wanderlust refers to a strong desire to wander and explore the world. The endless abundance of options and the choice between them drives her painting towards the unknown, towards the moment when the work is finished. For her, working is an adventure, an exploration, and a struggle. The beauty of visual imperfection in painting is the same as the acceptance of imperfection and incompleteness in life. For Taira, the process of painting is a processing of her own identity: personal changes in life are directly reflected in the creation of her works.
Taira Tiger´s exhibition features oil paintings from the year 2022. The almost monochrome works in ink in the previous exhibition made the artist long for strong forms and colours. All the unused lines came in. The works intersect with networks of surfaces painted with oil pastels and oil paints, or erased and scribbled in various ways, dividing the surface. All emotions, such as uncertainty, frustration, joy, and happiness are present in them.
Taira Tiger (b. 1970 Helsinki) graduated as a visual artist from the Lahti Institute of Design and Art in 2014 and as a painter from the Free Art School in 2003. She lives and works in Helsinki. Tiger has held numerous solo exhibitions in Finland and participated in group exhibitions in Finland and abroad.
