Visual artist Visa Norros (b. 1960) lives and works in Helsinki. The exhibition La clarté dans la confusion features printmaking using the following methods: carborundum, monotypic, lithography, embossed relief, as well as painting under glass. The works in the exhibition were completed in 2021-22 and, unlike graphic methods, are all single pieces. According to the artist, the title of the exhibition, La clarté dans la confusion, refers to the state of being and the work process, in which, after confusion, clarity is found.
Visa Norros rarely works on series. He mainly makes unique prints, often combining different techniques into a single image. This is how he describes his work: “By giving up seriality, I get greater freedom when printing and I can enter into the same spontaneity as painters. I work with abstract art, but I would rather call it nonfigurative. Many of my pictures are dark, but the essential thing about them is light, not darkness. For me, colour is not an intrinsic value, but the emotion that gave rise to the image and emerges from the image.”
